Benefits of Self-Pay for Therapy Services

Benefits of Self-Pay

The most important factor in determining successful therapy outcomes in the relationship you have with your therapist. Finding a specialized therapist tailored to your specific needs becomes significantly easier when you no longer have to go through insurance providers.

There are many benefits for paying out of pocket for therapeutic services. Insurance companies can oftentimes be difficult to work with, resulting in a delay of services getting started, some pose limitations on the number and length of sessions allowed, require a medical or mental health diagnosis to continue, and result in an unnecessary amount of stress.

When you pay out of pocket for therapy, you avoid a mountain of headaches. Your time becomes your own again, and there are very few hoops to jump through to get the help you need.

Benefits include:

  • Aligning your session length with your unique needs and desired goals within your timeline

  • Treatment decisions become entirely up to you and your therapist

  • Complete privacy and confidentiality

  • No diagnoses required!

    • This means you can receive therapy for wellness, not just illness! Examples being wanting to improve your relationships, communication skills, self-care, sexual wellness, and more. Things insurance can deem “not medically necessary.”

    • Therefore, no diagnoses go on your permanent medical records.

Individual Therapy & Integration

Similar to EMDR, talk therapy sessions and integration processing from previous psychedelic experiences can be adjusted in length depending on your unique needs and goals, if appropriate. Please always discuss with your provider your interest in longer sessions.

These lengths can vary from a standard 50-minute session, with 75-minute, 90-minute, and 120-minute sessions available upon request.

  • "I have never felt more safe and able to open up with a therapist before. I trust Tori fully and can talk to her about anything. She has helped me immensely."

    Neil, Former Client

  • "My therapist has helped me so much! I am a completely different person than I was a year ago before I started working with Tori. I feel I can trust my own judgement again, and I've learned so much about how to slow down and regulate my emotions! Truly so grateful for doing this work."

    M., Current Client

  • "I have had a lot of traumatic experiences with previous providers. No one has ever validated my experience and made me feel like what I'm going through is normal and understandable. I am still processing how grateful I am to have found Tori and begun working with her to address my trauma responses and neurodivergent tendencies."
